The Courage to Think for Yourself Dr. Leszek Benon Figurski aka Lech Figurski (pen name Jan Wegrzyn), (born August 23, 1932, Torun, Poland – died June 18, 2015, New York, USA), was a Polishborn American philosopher, theologian, polyglot, writer, and university professor. Best known as the author of the book The Courage to Think for Yourself: The Search for Truth and the Meaning of Human Life, which was written with the purpose to search for truth and the meaning of existence, “For as Socrates remarked, ‘The unexamined life is not worth living.” Figurski was also the author of five other books on the nature of philosophy. In the present times of materialism, scientism, and skepticism, Figurski stressed the absolute necessity in finding the meaning, destiny, and one’s place in the scheme of reality. He also gives a brief statement about the nature of man, human knowledge and the possibility of superficial and erroneous thinking.
